With a new puppy coming, we wanted to do this right. Then when faced with finding the right trainer, someone local, we found that our choices were very limited. Then we found McCann Dogs on YouTube but we wanted more structured content and learned that with McCann Dogs, we could have the quality training that we had hoped for and at a price point that was affordable when compared to local in person training. So we signed up for the “Full Bundle” of classes and after going through the Puppy Prep Guide and watching just a handful of the available Zoom classes, we know that we made the right decision. I’ve never trained a dog in my life but I am filled with so much confidence that I can absolutely learn to be a leader and teacher for my puppy. I can see the love and passion that all the staff at McCann Dogs have for dogs and for what they do!!! And that gives me the confidence with the guidance of the McCann staff that I can do it!!!

This course was all I'd hoped it would be. The last time I trained a dog was over 20 years ago (and I didn't do a very good job). This time, I wanted to have practical, professional advice before I brought the puppy home. I got everything I needed to know and some extra things I hadn't even considered. There are many books, YouTube videos and other information out there on getting ready for a puppy and welcoming them home, however, it is still difficult to get completely over the feeling that one is woefully unprepared. The Puppy Prep Guide addresses that in an organized, clear and concise manner. It provides the information relevant for choosing the puppy that is right for you, preparing home and "the village" for welcoming a new puppy, a shopping guide, an example daily schedule, and key guidelines of do-and-dont's with your new puppy to get you on the right footing. The information is not overly detailed or overwhelming – you might want to consult additional materials for specific topics –, but it provides a very welcome structure and an overview of the key topics, empowering you with confidence, that you won't overlook anything major when bringing home the new bundle of joy.
